Ryoko Sekiguchi<\/h2>\n\n

Author<\/h4>\n\n

Ry\u014dko Sekiguchi was born in Tokyo and grew up in the Shinjuku district. She studied journalism at Waseda University, where she chose to major in French out of a love for French cuisine. After graduating in 1993, she went on to study art history at the Sorbonne, then continued her research in Japan, earning a Ph.D. in comparative literature and cultural studies from the University of Tokyo in 1996. <\/p>\n\n

She has lived in France for nearly twenty years and is the author of about ten books in French and Japanese, a literary translator, and the editorial director of the \u201cLe Banquet\u201d series at Picquier. She also organizes events that bring together literature, cuisine, and art, and regularly collaborates with institutions such as INALCO. <\/p>\n\n

Among his works: *Le Nuage, dix fa\u00e7ons de le pr\u00e9parer* (\u00c9ditions de l’\u00c9pure), *Nagori* (P.O.L, 2018), *The Gourmet Club* (P.O.L), *961 Hours in Beirut (and 321 Dishes to Go With Them)* (P.O.L, 2021), and *Venice, Millefleurs* (P.O.L, 2026).<\/p>\n\n

As a translator, she has introduced Japanese readers to authors such as Jean Echenoz, Mathias \u00c9nard, Atiq Rahimi, and Daniel Heller-Roazen, and has translated Y\u00f4ko Tawada, G\u00f4z\u00f4 Yoshimasu, and numerous manga into French.<\/p>\n\n

She was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2012.<\/p>\n\n
