Patrick Demouy

Historian, Professor Emeritus at URCA, member of the Scientific Council of the “Coteaux, Maisons, and Caves de Champagne” Mission (UNESCO)

After earning his agrégation in history in 1973, Patrick taught at the University of Reims, first as a lecturer and then as a professor, until his retirement in 2016.

Notre-Dame Cathedral in Reims and the coronations have been the driving force behind his research and the subject of several seminal publications. Our medievalist has also devoted numerous works to the history of viticulture and wine in Champagne. In this capacity, Patrick made a significant contribution to Champagne’s UNESCO nomination dossier. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the “Coteaux, Maisons, and Caves de Champagne – World Heritage” Mission.
