Come help shape the Champagne region

By Mission Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne

September 20, starting at 2 p.m.

At the Village des Relais du Goût, children ages 7 and up recreate the landscape of the Champagne hillsides, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided by educators from the Mission Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne – World Heritage, they assemble a large 3D model and learn about the typical layout of a vineyard. Parents are welcome to stay with the group; no registration is required.

In detail

Your children may already be exploring the Montagne de Reims or the Marne Valley on foot or by bike. In this workshop, they’ll discover how these landscapes have been shaped over millions of years to form the UNESCO-recognized hillsides of Champagne. At the booth for the Mission Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne—World Heritage, guides welcome children for a group activity centered around a large relief model. Each child receives a puzzle piece and works with the other participants to gradually reconstruct the Champagne landscape. Throughout the workshop, the model helps participants understand the typical layout of this cultural landscape: the terrain, the hillsides, the villages, the houses, and the cellars that all play a role in champagne production.

For 45 minutes, the children observe, explore, and work together to build a hands-on model of the region. Parents are welcome to join the group—no registration required—to watch the activity and share this time of discovery with their families.
